FERRO at the Water Reservoirs 2025 Conference

FERRO at the Water Reservoirs 2025 Conference

Тhe FERRO project was presented at the Water Reservoirs 2025 conference on 3 April 2025 in Brno, Czech Republic. Josef Hejzlar from the Biology Center CAS delivered a presentation focusing on the quality of water supply from reservoirs. The conference provided a platform for discussing current challenges and scientific insights related to reservoir management and drinking water security.

Josef Hejzlar’s presentation, entitled “The impact of the method of discharge from the Římov Reservoir during the floods in September 2024 on the subsequent quality of water supply” examined how reservoir discharge strategies during extreme flood events can influence water quality in the period that follows. The talk highlighted the importance of operational decisions during high-flow conditions and their implications for maintaining safe and reliable water supplies.

The contribution aligned with broader FERRO interests in understanding the interactions between hydrological extremes, reservoir management and water quality, particularly in the context of climate change. By sharing empirical evidence from a recent flood event, the presentation supported ongoing discussions on how adaptive reservoir operation and integrated water management can help safeguard water resources and ecosystem functions under increasingly variable climatic conditions.
