FERRO at the MissionLakes Webinar: Innovations in Lake Restoration

FERRO participated in the MissionLakes Webinar on Innovations in Lake Restoration, held online on 21 August 2025. The event brought together researchers, practitioners and stakeholders interested in the latest approaches and technologies for improving freshwater ecosystems, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and discussion of innovative restoration methods.

Anna-Marie Klamt from SDU represented FERRO and Martin Søndergaard from our sister project FutureLakes presented “Sustainable Lake Restoration: Insights from Sediment Dredging and Nutrient Recycling at Lake Ormstrup (Denmark),” focusing on work related to FERRO’s Work Package 5. The presentation highlighted practical experiences in sediment management and nutrient recovery, demonstrating how integrated approaches can support ecological restoration while promoting resource reuse.

The session attracted an audience of 78 participants, who engaged with the presenters during the question-and-answer segment, exploring technical challenges, outcomes and broader implications for sustainable lake management. Overall, the webinar offered FERRO an opportunity to share its innovative solutions, strengthen connections with the wider freshwater community and contribute to discussions on advancing sustainable and circular approaches to lake restoration.
