FERRO engages with Local Farmer at Lake Ormstrup

FERRO engages with Local Farmer at Lake Ormstrup

On 15 April 2025, FERRO partners held a discussion at the field plot site at Lake Ormstrup, Denmark, as part of ongoing engagement activities within the lake’s catchment area. The meeting formed part of regular exchanges with a local farmer whose land and experience are closely connected to the project’s field-based research activities.

FERRO maintains close contact with the farmer and frequently discusses research progress and practical considerations related to the field plot experiment, where the fertiliser value of dredged lake sediment is being tested. The farmer has shown strong interest in the project and its objectives, particularly in relation to nutrient recycling and the potential agricultural benefits of recovered lake sediments.

His contribution has been valuable both from a theoretical and practical perspective, providing advice on the set-up and optimisation of the field plots, as well as insights into local soil conditions and farming practices. This continued collaboration highlights the importance of stakeholder involvement in ensuring that restoration measures are not only scientifically robust but also practically feasible and aligned with local agricultural realities.
